This policy explains what personal data Cashier Apps collects through this website and through our Shopify apps, why we collect it, and what rights you have. If you have any question, contact us.
Who we are
Cashier Apps is run by Mirko Buttazzo (Italy), who is the data controller for the data collected on this website. For data about shoppers in a merchant’s store, the merchant is the controller and we process that data on their behalf.
This website
Launch list and support forms
When you sign up for launch updates or write to us, we receive the details you enter: your email address and, for support requests, your name, store URL and message. We use them only to reply to you or to tell you that an app has launched. These details are delivered to our inbox by email through Resend, and no other database keeps them. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
Hosting and analytics
The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and doesn’t identify individual visitors. This website sets no cookies at all.
Hourglass Discount Timer
Merchant data
When a merchant installs Hourglass, we receive from Shopify the store’s domain and the access credentials the app needs to run. We also store the promotions the merchant creates: discount, products, timing and banner design.
Shopper data
To give each visitor one personal countdown, so that it doesn’t restart on refresh or in a private window, Hourglass recognises returning visitors using these signals:
- the IP address (for IPv6, only the network prefix);
- general browser characteristics: platform, mobile or desktop, main language and browser engine;
- a random identifier stored in the shopper’s browser.
These signals are never stored as they are. We keep only an irreversible cryptographic hash, together with the countdown’s expiry time and, if the merchant enabled it, the time the shopper qualifies again. Countdown records are deleted automatically 7 days after they expire, unless a cooldown set by the merchant is still running.
Email signup (optional)
If the merchant turns this feature on and a shopper signs up after their countdown ends, the email address is saved directly in the merchant’s Shopify store as a customer with marketing consent. Hourglass doesn’t keep its own copy. From then on the merchant manages that data.
Uninstalling
When a merchant uninstalls Hourglass, we delete that store’s data: credentials, promotions and countdown records.
Service providers
We rely on these providers to run our services:
- Shopify: the platform our apps run on;
- Fly.io: app hosting;
- Neon: database hosting;
- Vercel: website hosting and analytics;
- Resend: email delivery for the website forms.
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, and you can object to or restrict how we process it. If you’re a shopper in a store that uses our apps, you can also contact that store directly. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Italy, that’s the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
